About

Reading Capital might be understood as a loosely coupled discussion framework for distributed readings of a text, or a series of texts. The inspiration for this site was the open and free publication of David Harvey’s course lectures on Capital, Volume 1. And while this site was created independently of professor Harvey’s course, it aims to offer a community space for engaging in conversation about the reading of Capital (although I don’t imagine it needs to be limited to that tet or that course).

Either way, like any good online spaces for discussion, it will only prove as useful and vibrant as the community that uses it, so only time will tell how this experiment will fare. In the meantime, there are a number of possibilities for engaging in conversation, you can create a blog and share you commentary there, post on the forums, or use a group blog like Discourse to have a distributed, conversational discussion (not unlike Twitter). I’m still figuring out how the wiki may prove useful, but for the moment it is being used for help documentation and support (any suggestions would be appreciated).

Enjoy, and feel free to use the contact form for any questions or suggestions you might have.
